A huge contingent of novices from Rutgers flooded the Swarthmore Novice Tournament this weekend. While no one broke from RUDU, the team had several teams with winning records and everyone attested to learning a great deal at the contest.
Shireen Hamza & Jason Boyle, each debating in their second career tournaments, won their first four rounds en route to a 4-1 record overall, finishing just out of the top ten. Additionally, the partnerships of Quinn Maingi & Kurt Falk, Sarthi Tuli & Asher Wasserman, and Alex Jubb & Shyam Sridhar all compiled winning 3-2 records.
The horde of RUDU novices will join the varsity squad for a trip to Harvard University this weekend, sure to be not only the largest tournament of the year but possibly the largest tournament in APDA history. The league as a whole has shown significant growth this year. Rutgers remains ranked 10th overall in the country heading into this pivotal weekend.
